Critical Myth

Television has become the medium of today's modern mythology, delivering the exploits of icons and archetypes to the masses. Names like Mulder, Scully, Kirk, Spock, and Buffy have become legend. This blog is a compilation of the reviews written about the tales of our modern day heroes.

Now reading:

Star Trek: Enterprise: Rosetta by David Stern
Babylon 5: The Scripts of JMS: Volume 5
Diamonds are Forever by Ian Fleming
Star Wars: Outbound Flight by Timothy Zahn

110/453...I'm still not sure where this is all going, but I love the Thrawn scenes, as usual. Zahn is one of the best SW authors out there, and this is one of those long-awaited novels meant to tie some elements of his earlier novels together.

I liked Diamonds are Forever a lot more than Moonraker. There's still the growing 50's era Playboy mentality at work, a sign of the times, but Fleming doesn't forget to dredge up Bond's psychological issues this time around, which is always a lot more interesting. And the case this time around is a lot more realistic.

Now playing:

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - about 10%...we've just added Jessica to the party...
Final Fantasy V - about 10%...Old School! Brenna's loves the 2D icons!
Final Fantasy X-2 - about 75%...kinda on hold for now
Kingdom Hearts - about 8% done...kinda on hold for now

The one good thing about playing the relatively kid-friendly games is that I have convinced Brenna to read the text boxes with dialogue. It gets her into the story, which gives her more reason to tackle the words she doesn't know. See? Games can be educational!

7 Day Forecast (through 16 Apr 2006):

4/10: West Wing 7.17: "Election Day: Part II"
4/11: Prison Break 1.17: "J Cat"
4/12: 24 5.17: "Day 5: 11PM - 12PM"
4/13: Lost 2.17: "S.O.S."
4/14: Ghost Hunters 2.17: "12 Apr 2006"
4/14: Supernatural 1.19: "Provenance"
4/16: Smallville 5.18: "Fragile"

The timing for the "Smallville" review is questionable, since I'm not sure if I will have time. I will be going away for the weekend, and it's likely that I would stay through Monday morning. More later...
